Saint James School - Property Description |
|
The school building was a two story building with a basement. It could be entered through a door opening to a walkway leading to the parking circle behind Main House, or by going down the stairs to the side of the building and through a door that led to the Coke machine and our small basement gym. The inside of the first floor looked like all school buildings with an office in the front and normal classrooms lining the hallway. There was a water fountain in the hall and, I believe, our time clock near the water fountain. There was a stairwell that connected the basement, first and second floors. The second floor housed our library, the meeting room for the Radio Club and two large classrooms. One of the classrooms was used exclusively by Francis for his classes. The original school building remained right up to the time the property was sold. It was torn down to make way for St. James Place, because unlike the other buildings, it was built specifically as a school and couldn't be converted back to a residence. |
